Entertaiment is the activity of engaging in leisure activities for enjoyment and recreation. While technology changes the availability, cost, variety and quality of entertainment, its fundamental forms – such as storytelling, music, theatre and games – remain recognisable. Scheherazade, a story in the Persian professional storytelling tradition, is an example of how a single narrative can inspire retellings across different media: composers Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Szymanowski created orchestral works; directors Pasolini made a film adaptation; and innovative video games have been developed from the tale.
